Unknown Error # : -80 On First Launch

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am installing on a Server 2016 server, provisioned as a Remote Desktop Server.

I have downloaded the Enterprise installer (x64) on advice from support.

I have downloaded the enterprise depl[oyment tool, and created the mst file with the serial number and option selected.

I run the command Msiexec -i D:\nitro\nitro_pro12_x64.msi TRANSFORMS=D:\nitro\nitro_pro12_x64.mst and the product begins to install.

The install completes, and I try to run the application for the first time. It does not load, and instead I get a small white window, with theonly text in it - the Error text in the Subject.

Please help, we have been trying to isntall this product for over 4 weeks, without much help from support.

If I try and go to the path: C:\Program Files\Nitro\Pro\12 and run the ControlActivation application, I get a similar error  - with a bit more information:

-80: Error - License read failure

Hi AllainU,

I'm seeing Unknown Error #: -80 as well.  I'd like to send you a PM.  The install is on a terminal server.  The version is Nitro Pro 10 and is licensed.  I can provide a serial number and complete some testing.  May I have some assistance please?

Thank You!

Hi AllainU, The suggestion that one of your colleague's suggested unfortunately did not work for resolving the 80 error.  The version was Nitro Pro 10.  I just installed a trial of Nitro Pro 12 to verify whether I should go through the license quoting process for Pro 12.  The 80 error also popped up for Nitro Pro 12.  Any suggestions?  I did try a Service Update for Naplileon.  I don't have the option of going through VIP support as Nitro Pro 10 is EOL, however the same issue occurs for Nitro Pro 12 which isn't EOL - but the company this is for doesn't have VIP support for Nitro 12 (as it is a trial I just tested)

Thank you!

I have the same issue with Nitro Pro 12 of an Error #80 on a Windows Server 2016 TS environment.  And if I use Nitro Pro 9 with the license key I have I get the error message "The service does not have sufficient privileges. Please reinstall."  I therefore checked your knowledge base and here and both say the service is not started and how to get it to start automatically.  The service however is started and running.  Between installs I uninstalled the program and used your removal tool and rebooted the server, but still I get the same errors for both sorts of software.  Any suggestions on how to make either Nitro Pro 9 or Pro 12 work on server 2016?

Hi All.

This issue is resolved for me now. What I needed was the actual License File from Nitro. Simply pasting the license code in the license field of the enterprise deployment tool, was not sufficient.

If you can follow my instructions regarding using the latest enterprise installers, using the deployment tool (with a license file from Nitro) to create the mst file- you should be ok.

Hope that helps - it was very time consuming and frustrating for my client, and I had to escalate this very high up to get the required advice.

Hey folks, we're having this exact same issue with a customer of ours.  Recently switched them to a new Windows Server 2016 RDS setup, and their Nitro 9 (what they're licensed for) gives an error "The service does not have sufficient privileges. Please reinstall." - even though the service is started and running.  Tried downloading the Nitro Pro 12 trial just to see, and get the above referenced Error 80.

It appears this customer does not have Premier support.  Please help!  Thanks

Hello @Birchy,

Thank you for reaching out to us through our Community Forums!

In order for me to further assist you, could you please provide me with the following?:
-Is the server PHYSICAL machine or VIRTUALIZED using e.g. XenServer of VMware?
-Is the server's operating system installed NORMALLY or STREAMED using e.g. Citrix Provisioning Services or Machine Creation Services or Standard Microsoft Remote Desktop Server?
-Is Nitro Pro installed on the server NORMALLY or STREAMED using e.g. App-V or ThinApp?

Thank you very much in advance and I am looking forward to hearing back from you.

Hi @AllainU, thanks for getting back to me!

1. This is a Windows Server 2016 VM running in Azure.

2. OS is installed normally.

3. Nitro Pro is installed normally (both version 9 and 12).  RDS is setup in a single server config, but we're not trying to "publish" the app at this time.  We just have folks RDP'ing into this server, and opening the app from their desktop.

The customer had previously been using a Windows 7 Pro box that had the 'registry hack' to allow more than 1 user to connect.  We had to put an end to that setup for obvious reasons.

Hi all, I had this issue as well. I'm running Server 2016 VM in Azure and using Nitro Pro 12.

Here's what I've found. There are 3 types of installers for Nitro Pro - retail, business and enterprise. The retail installer is available on the website. The other two Nitro will have to provide you links for.

First, I tried installing the retail version and got the -80 error when trying to launch. I was given the business installer and serial from Nitro and got the -80 error again. I tried the enterprise installer and viola, it worked. I now need an enterprise serial to activate it.

In the deployment guide, it says you need an enterprise license for VMs. It fails to mention the 3 types of installers. Hopefully this helps those of you who are still trying to figure things out.
